On Feb. 5, 1962, the Mississippi State University Development Foundation was chartered. Since then, the organization has evolved into the present day MSU Foundation as the spirit of philanthropy continues to thrive among alumni and friends. Through the Foundation, Mississippi State's programs and people experience the impact of private support in nearly every facet of the university.

Today, no major university can achieve excellence without a combination of state and private funds. Mississippi State receives less than one-third of its total budget from state revenues, making private support crucial to our success. Many outright gifts received annually are making a difference for the university's students and programs on an almost daily basis. Other commitments, such as bequests, will continue to assist the university for decades.

Private gifts received through the MSU Foundation go to the very heart of Mississippi State - they indicate that our alumni and friends believe in the future and vision of our university and are willing to invest their time and financial resources.
