Frequently Asked Questions

Annual Fund

How can I make an annual gift to Mississippi State?

There are two ways to make continuous annual gifts to MSU. Gifts may be designated for a particular college or area through the MSU Annual Fund or they may be channeled to areas of greatest need by earmarking annual gifts simply for the Mississippi State Fund. You may make an annual gift at anytime for the designation(s) of your choice.

Is there a minimum donation?

As an alumnus or friend of MSU, you may contribute any amount through the Annual Fund. All we ask is that you give each year to maintain your active membership in the MSU Alumni Association.

Will my gift make a difference?

Absolutely. Every dollar given on an annual basis to Mississippi State has an impact and is very much appreciated by the students, faculty and programs of the university.

What if I can’t afford to make a large gift this year? Does my support still make a difference?

A tax-deductible gift of any amount through the MSU Annual Fund sends a message that you support the university and its mission. Annual Fund support also directly impacts Mississippi State’s standing in U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” rankings. Among major criteria used by the publication to determine a university’s score is alumni satisfaction, which is measured by the percentage of alumni contributing consistently on an annual basis. The greater the participation rate for alumni and friends in the Annual Fund, the higher the ranking will be for Mississippi State.

Can I make a monthly credit or debit card gift to MSU?

Yes. We want to make giving to Mississippi State as convenient as possible for you and will be happy to set up a recurring, monthly gift at a level your are comfortable with.

How often should I make a gift?

You may make as many gifts per year as you like. Annual contribution recognition levels are based on your fiscal year giving from July 1 of the current year to June 30 of the following year.
