Real Estate Giving

Real estate is an often overlooked method of making a charitable gift to Mississippi State.

Donors who want to create a real legacy for Mississippi State can transform their real estate into a meaningful gift for the university. A gift of real estate is a great way to provide scholarship support, endow a faculty position, assist with the construction of new facilities, and provide program enhancements.

Types of real estate gifts which may offer the perfect solution for facilitating a charitable gift include:

  • Residential home
  • Vacation home or condominium
  • Timberland or recreational property
  • Agricultural property
  • Commercial property
  • Investment property
  • Undeveloped property

Mississippi State University has developed two programs to assist property owners with utilizing their real estate – Bulldog Properties and Bulldog Forest. Both avenues assist the university, and allow donors to take advantage of certain personal benefits as well. Explore the options now by downloading our Guide to Giving Real Estate (PDF).

Bulldog Properties

Gifts of real estate to the MSU Bulldog Properties program may be sold to benefit the donor and the university. In addition to enjoying the fulfillment that comes with supporting Mississippi State, a donor may also receive lifetime payments, eliminate the burdens of ownership, and gain tax advantages.

Bulldog Forest

Donors may also choose for their timberland to become part of MSU’s Bulldog Forest program. Donating timberland to Mississippi State’s Bulldog Forest program allows donors to leave a lasting legacy in their family’s name. Properties may be held for an extended period of time with funds generated from timber sales, hunting leases, oil and gas leases, conservation programs and assessments and other means being used by the university for a donor specified charitable purpose.
